Helping Your Body Remember: Reconnective Healing with Algernon Williams

You may already know Algernon Williams as a great massage therapist, energy healer and coach. But he also offers a form of energy work known as Reconnective Healing. Here, in Al's words, is a taste of what it has to offer.

Your body knows how to thrive. It knows how to heal and how to be at peace. However, it's all too easy to override this innate knowledge with the hustle and bustle of modern life. The deadlines, long hours and often competitive nature of our lives all tell us, deep inside, that the world around us is not safe and that we must be on guard.

When the body is in this fight-or-flight state, our survival instinct takes over and directs what the body needs and does. When this situation becomes chronic, when we "live" from this place, there is no energy left for healing, no attention to ease and definitely no peace of mind. Of course, this state is necessary for our survival. It is what stops us from walking in front of a bus. But when it switched on 24 hours hours a day, seven days a week, we begin to suffer for it. For many of us, even our rest times are filled with thoughts of what we've done and what we still have to do; our brain is still working and we are still in survival mode, leaving nothing for recovery and rejuvenation.

Reconnective Healing quickly takes you out of survival mode and puts you into rest-and-digest mode. This is where your body can finally relax, recover, rejuvenate and heal. This is where you thrive. At times, seemingly amazing healings can occur, but this is really a process of reconnecting to your body's natural healing mechanism. It says: "Remember this state, you can let go, there is no need to worry." As the body remembers, you naturally become less stressed about life, you feel healthier and you become more at ease.

"Work has begun to get easier and life has begun to get easier. The trivial things that would have bothered me before have become just that - trivial - and no longer have any effect on my life as I now know it." - Jeff McIntyre

If you'd like to learn more about Reconnective Healing, visit Al at Healium for a chat. He's here 8.30 am to 2 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

How Energy Healing Works

Energy healer and massage therapist Algernon Williams discusses the experience of receiving and processing energy healing. At Healium, Al offers Reconnective Healing, The Reconnection, The Continuation and Intuitive Therapy.

A Hansel and Gretel Story

Let us consider that a loaf of bread is analogous to our being whole, one with spirit finding our true self. What most everybody is searching for.

As we journey through our lives we pick up crumbs of this loaf along the way, little tidbits of knowledge and insight. Every so often we gather enough crumbs to put together into a whole slice. When we form this slice we get an AH-HAA moment, a moment of growth or new understanding.

As we go through life we collect these crumbs and slices, putting them together and trying to complete our loaf of bread, our wholeness, our divinity.

Processing Our Experience

When we are touched by a healing energy we are given a basket of crumbs from which to choose. Sometimes, depending on the healing modality, the connection between the healer and client, and the client's readiness, we may take one crumb, a handful or a whole slice. On very rare occasions some have been known in an instant to see and take the entire loaf, achieving Nirvana, or Enlightenment. Most of us, however, take only a few crumbs at a time, as sudden and massive change often causes much stress.

What's the frequency, Al?
Depending on how many crumbs we already have of a particular slice in our basket at a given time, we may not feel much has changed after a healing session. When we have collected enough crumbs to finish the slice, we say "a miracle, what an amazing healer," negating the many healing sessions and moments during which we collected the individual crumbs. We may not feel much before that tipping point of completing the slice.

At other times we may take a whole slice's worth of crumbs, but then we must take them home to piece together - and it's only then that we get the AH-HAA. We often do not connect or believe that the healing had anything to do with the AH-HAA moment we got a week or a month later.

The point is, every time you have a healing you will get exactly what your body and soul want at that moment. It is YOU who decides how little or how much to take depending on your path and readiness to embrace change.

Be Patient, Be Open, Be Happy

and allow yourself to receive and take all that you desire.

Suzy with new friend Cookie!
Suzy Gallagher came to shiatsu from a background in massage therapy and yoga - and cooking! Suzy originally trained as a chef before discovering shiatsu, and that's when she relocated to Melbourne to study at the Australian Shiatsu College. Now back in Wellington, Suzy still cooks part-time at Deluxe Cafe - and is available at Healium on Fridays.
