Nature's Healing Matrix
"Nature's Healing Matrix" is found in the native plants of Aotearoa New Zealand - our land. Our flowers, ferns, trees, seeds and plants, in the form of the First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand, work on healing the five layers of our being - personality (flowers), aura (ferns), chakras (trees), DNA (seeds) and soul level (plants) - to help us transform, clear, balance, re-pattern and grow, respectively. Nature's Healing Matrix is a five-part pattern to restore and maintain health and well-being on a holistic level, naturally.
So, how do we work with Nature's Healing Matrix? It's easy! A "constitutional blend" based on a person's birthdate is the ideal way to select a personal essence blend of at least one flower - our "power flower" - to transform negative personality traits; plus a fern, tree and seed to provide the "triangle of power" to clear, balance and re-pattern; as well as one or two plants to enhance life. Two bottles of flower essences are recommended, taken as drops daily. We often wait until we have a problem before taking action. However, by taking the essences daily, whether there is a perceived problem or not, assists in restoring and maintaining heath and well-being.
When all aspects of our holistic being are in harmony, balanced and integrated, we experience true healing and are in a state of natural well-being. We can then live life in a way that is rich, fluid and dynamic and can fully express our uniqueness. We can walk our path with the capacity to be at one with all that is. Sound good? Give flower essences a go - nothing to lose and much to gain. An ancient way of working with plants - and totally relevant today in the 21st Century.
Astrea Morgane returns to Healium on Wednesday, 16 November for sessions in flower essences, homeobotanicals, homeopathy and Rongoa.

Healer, Lover, Socialite: The Power of Flower Essences
Today's entry comes from Astrea Morgane, plant-medicine expert at Healium, who will next be available for consultations this Friday, 16 September.
If you want to take on the positive traits of the healer, lover or socialite - or all of them - look no further than the flower power of this land.
Much of my work with plant medicine centers around First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand. These essences include 36 Flowers of Transformation that can change attitudes and change lives. Essences made from the three flowers listed below focus on bringing into balance each of three attributes of the personality.
Purple Koromiko is "The Simplicity Essence" for "The Healer." This essence is for those who are called to serve in a healing capacity. It keeps things simple and efficient and allows us to get to the heart or essence of things. It is useful where we need to be objective and have peace and clarity around work, health or practical matters.
Lovers Daisy is "The Love Essence" for "The Lover." It brings love and balance and allows us to relate in an empowered way. Useful for those who give away their power in relationships or those who find themselves in negative relationship patterns.
Wineberry is "The Cooperation Essence" for "The Socialite." This essence assists us with our social skills and accentuates our romantic charm. It helps us to mix easily and enjoy social exchanges with others.
These three essences are also the Keynote essences for people born 12 - 22 September (Purple Koromiko), 23 September - 1 October (Lovers Daisy) and 2 - 11 October (Wineberry). Keynote essences are a great place to start for people wanting to experience the power of these flower essences They are subtle and yet so profound. People report back saying that they feel different in themselves and that they notice positive changes in how they relate to others and how others relate to them. If you'd like to enhance your capacity as a healer, lover or socialite, I encourage you to give these essences a go!

Flower Essences: The Healing Intelligence of Plants
![]() |
Flowering whau (Entelea arborescens) |
Are you looking for a magic potion? First Light Flower Essences of New Zealand are more magical than any medicine I have encountered so far. They are totally natural and are made by combining sunlight, water and the healing power of our own native plants (plus some good French brandy as a preservative) to form potent essences.
I know they are magical as I have seen how they can make a huge difference to how we feel, what we are doing, how we respond to things and even how others react to us. Although First Light Flower Essences do not make any claims of curing physical issues, they can profoundly improve our mental, emotional and spiritual well-being, as well as our relationships.
In the 1930s Edward Bach pioneered flower essence therapy, following many ancient civilizations that recognized the powerful energetic medicine created by water, sunlight and plants. Flower essences are a vibrational medicine where sunlight transfers the particular vibration of the flower to water by by resonance transfer. The essences are dispensed as liquids - pure spring water and brandy (I use Petone water and cider vinegar) - and are taken as drops under the tongue. When we take a flower essence, its vibration or healing energy is transferred to us.
We may think we choose the plant essences we need, but the plants are really choosing us! A great way to start is to have a constitutional blend made based on your birth date. This gives eight essences in a 25-ml bottle that covers all aspects of Nature's Healing Matrix: flowers (personality), ferns (aura), trees (chakras), seeds (DNA), and plants (soul path and current year). Blends can be prescribed and dispensed after a consultation according to what is going on for you and the outcome you would like. Alternatively, you can choose your own blend from the flower essence cards, or even take combination approach of your keynote flower essence, issues and outcomes, and select some from the cards.
Although anyone can make a medicine, the healing power is determined by the consciousness of the person who made it as well as the person who prescribed and dispensed it. These essences have been made in cooperation with the plants, and when we work with First Light Flower Essences we are working with plant intelligence. As a botanist and 21st Century Medicine Woman, this really appeals to me. Time to bring in some magic to uplift body and soul. Awesome!
